My MA Project focuses on the sustainability of the apparel industry and explores the internal cycles of the apparel industry. In particular, I have focused on the differences between the second-hand clothing markets in China and Occiant. By comparing the characteristics of clothing brands that promote sustainability in both regions and the perceptions of people in both areas towards second-hand clothing, it advances the acceptance of reusing second-hand clothing.
My ready-to-wear will then focus on reusing second-hand clothes and dead-stock fabrics. I want to recycle these discarded items and create more beautiful garments by using second-hand beads and embellishing them with prints. The idea is that for a garment industry that generates so much waste, it's not a bad idea to take what is wasted and recycle it to get the most out of it, which not only promotes recycling within the garment industry but also promotes sustainability.
My Future Goals
As sustainability in the apparel industry in China is not as important as Occiant, in the future I would like to bring back to China the sustainable methods and some of the ideas I have learned from the UK and focus more on the sustainable use of the apparel industry.
Here are my future career plans.
